Noorfadilla Ahmad Saikin, the former relief teacher whose appointment was terminated due to her pregnancy, urged the government not to lodge another appeal to the Court of Appeal ruling yesterday to award her RM300,000 in compensation for her sacking.

Noorfadilla, 31, came to the Parliament today to urge all MPs in the House to amend Article 8 (2) of the federal constitution to ensure there is no gender discrimination in both private and public sectors.

The federal government had previously appealed against Noorfadilla's case when she won it at the Shah Alam High Court in 2011, before it decided to withdraw the appeal.

Noorfadilla asked the government not to repeat the process with another appeal, as the delay resulting from the previous appeal cost her 23 months to be awarded her compensation.

"I thank everyone who had supported me in the past 5 years and 10 months," she said.

"I have been made a victim twice - first, when my appointment was retracted, and second, when the government lodged an appeal in 2011. I hope they will not lodge another appeal in my case," she told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

She was accompanied by PKR MPs Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang) and Abdullah Sani (Kuala Langat), and also her lawyer Edmund Bon ( right ).
