The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) wants the public to perceive it like other financial institutions with the listing of default borrowers in the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS) from Jan 1, 2015.

PTPTN's marketing and strategic communications chief officer Mastura Mohd Khalid said PTPTN functions as an institution which provides and manages loans to 2.1 million borrowers.

"PTPTN not only provides loans but it also has to manage the loans that have been disbursed and needs to collect payments.

"This is because PTPTN functions as an institution which provides loans for higher education. So we need the repayments to allow us to give to others who need the funds," he said after appearing as a guest on the programme 'Dalam Radar' on Radio 24 Bernama in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

On Wednesday, Nov 5, PTPTN chairperson Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said, with the cooperation of Bank Negara, 558,475 borrowers who defaulted would be listed in CCRIS.

The CCRIS is a Bank Negara database system which stores information of borrowers reported by financial institutions.
