If the Registrar of Societies (ROS) director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah and his staff are not removed, MIC's G Kumar Amaan has vowed to go on a hunger strike until his last breath .

However, DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng is far from convinced.

In a Facebook posting, he quipped: "Chapati on me if this dude keeps his pledge!"

Speaking to Malaysiakini later, the Segambut MP described the hunger strike as nothing more than a political stunt and is certain that Kumar would call it quits soon.

Lim also stressed that he disagreed with such methods, which he described as "unhealthy and outdated".

"Peaceful demonstrations are fine, but not this. Life is precious.

"Furthermore, when a politician does this, it sends the wrong message to the younger generation," he added.

If MIC is unsatisfied with the ROS, Lim said, the party should exhaust other avenues such as going to court or asking its ministers to bring up the matter in cabinet.

Lim was also "outraged" by Kumar's comparison to Mahatma Ghandi, saying MIC has not and will never see such a man walk amongst its ranks.

"MIC leaders must learn to be humble and not arrogant," he added.

Kumar, who is hunger striking outside the ROS headquarters in Putrajaya, was appointed as secretary-general by party president G Palanivel.

However, his position has not been recognised by the ROS, which has also instructed MIC to hold fresh polls for several posts.
