The PAS Ulama wing opened fire on PasMa yesterday, accusing the PAS leaders who lead PasMa of betrayal treachery at its assembly yesterday.

This comes after PasMa – an NGO which advocates PAS staying within Pakatan Rakyat – was linked to moves to topple PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

According to Mingguan Malaysia , PAS Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah also termed those who defended PasMa as "crazy".

" PasMa is like beras hampa (empty rice grains). This faulty items have no value, in Kelantan no one will buy it if we sell if at the night market.

" We know the background of those in PasMa. They are problematic, so it is not right for PAS members to listen to what they have to say to the extent of turning their backs on the advise of the Syura Council and Ulama wing," he is quoted as saying.

PasMa is led by former Kedah deputy PAS commissioner Phahrolrazi Zawawi (below) .

Phahrolrazi said that while PasMa has no hand in the anti-Hadi move, there are those within the party discussing whether to retain him as president.

Devils in the midst

The anti-PasMa stand echoed by Kedah PAS Ulama chief Mohamad Fauzi Hussin who urged PAS leadership to cleanse the party of treachery by “devils in the congregation”,

"The devil can even in a mosque, and there a number of devils in the midst of our congregation (PAS).

"One cannot truly be within Islam if one is not part of a congregation, because without a congregation there is no leadership.

"This is why there must be obedience in a congregation, it is a key aspect," he said.

The event themed 'Terus Istiqamah Bersama Kepimpinan Ulama' (Steadfast with Ulama Leadership) also passed several resolutions, including:

  • Supporting the Kelantan government to bring a Private Members' Bill on the hudud to Parliament, despite objections from PKR and DAP;

 

  • Stressing the importance of allegiance to the Syura Council and the PAS president, as long as they adhere to the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad's teachings;

    •  

  • Urging PAS members to stay away from “liberal Islam” which is spreading within PAS and leading members astray from glorifying Allah's teachings;

    •  

  • Curbing the act of betrayal, including those who insult the ulama;

    •  

  • Urging the PAS disciplinary committee to take action on any PAS members involved in PasMa;

    •  

  • Reminding all PAS members to not undermine PAS policies for the sake of political cooperation with others.

    • 'Smearing PAS'

    In response, Penang PasMa said the "war" against PasMa is only smearing PAS' own image of a civil and peaceful party.

    PasMa Penang deputy chairperson II Zainulfaqar Yaacob added PasMa's goal is to strengthen the support of five million voters through cooperation between PAS, DAP and PKR in the next general election.
