Kita Lawan will be organising a series of ceramahs nationwide to whip up support for the Bersih 4.0 protest set to be held at the end of August.

The movement said with all that is currently happening in the country, staying quiet is not an option.

"The democratic system is destroyed. Political enemies are jailed. The remaining institutions follow those in power. The media is threatened and silenced. Messengers are barred from leaving the country.

"Those with positions are fired while attempts are made to cripple investigating bodies like the Public Accounts Committee, while those who abuse power - the corrupt and despots - are left alone.

"The political manoeuvre of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his henchmen have no regard for the people. Keeping quiet is not an option," the group said in a statement.

The Bersih 4 protest would be held in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu on Aug 29 and 30, and among others, seeks to demand Najib's resignation.

It also has four other major objectives : 1) Clean elections, 2) Clean governance, 3) Saving the economy, and 4) Preserving the right to dissent.

Kita Lawan is made up of politicians, civil society groups, NGOs, and youth activists.

It initially took to the streets on a weekly basis to protest the jailing of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, but has since taken up various causes.

Its most successful protest on May 1 drew 50,000 people to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre to oppose the goods and services tax (GST).
