There is no criminal element about the explosive video of Muhyiddin Yassin making a damning allegation against his former boss, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar says.

Khalid said the 57-second clip in which the former deputy prime minister claims Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak admitted that RM2.6 billion was transferred into his personal bank accounts did not constitute a criminal offence.

"It is just a short video recording of a conversation mentioning a certain amount of money has been transferred into somebody's account.

"I don't think that constitutes an offence," Khalid told reporters during a joint conference with Muhyiddin’s successor Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

Asked whether what Muhyiddin said in the video was the truth, he answered vaguely, "The question is whether it is true."

Yesterday, Khalid said the 1MDB special task force would look into the video recording.

Khalid is a member of the task force, which also comprises the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Bank Negara.

Muhyiddin in the video clip said Najib admitted RM2.6 billion was transferred into his personal accounts.

He said this when meeting with several guests at his house on Tuesday, night after Najib dropped him from the cabinet.
