Bersih 4 not registered group, says Home Ministry

The Bersih 4.0 rally which proposes to hold an assembly this weekend, is not a registered organisation, says the Home Ministry.

Its secretary-general Alwi Ibrahim said that apart from operating illegally, investigations revealed that Bersih 4 had created an environment of anxiety and raised uneasiness among multiracial, multi-religious and multi-ethnic Malaysians.

He said it was also found to have spread propaganda to incite the people negatively against the government by distributing certain leaflets which could be detrimental to the country.

“Its various activities could further damage the image of the country and threaten national public order, security, economic prosperity and sovereignty, as well as affect the harmony of the multiracial community in Malaysia,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.

In this regard, the ministry has urged the people not to attend and participate in the assembly this weekend which did not get the approval of the authorities.
