A police report has been lodged over the alleged disappearance of prominent deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais.

When contacted, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed a missing persons report has been lodged at the Jinjang police station today.

Morais was previously seconded to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

An MACC spokesperson told Malaysiakini he returned to the Attorney-General's Chambers "more than a year ago".

He was last seen leaving for work from his apartment at Menara Duta, Kuala Lumpur, Friday morning, The Rakyat Post reported.

He was in his official government-issued vehicle, bearing the registration plate number WA 6264 Q, it reported.

Morais is presently the trials and appeals division deputy head at the AG’s Chambers.

He is currently the prosecutor handling the former Sime Darby Bhd chief executive officer Ahmad Zubair @ Ahmad Zubir Murshid’s criminal breach of trust case.
