Controversial Umno man Jamal Md Yunos has admitted that he is a racist, but it is based on the federal constitution.

"We have no problems, to say we are racists or what. I admit I am racist, but my racism follows the constitution.

"I am defending our rights. Malays have to be racist..., but it must follow the social contract.

"We are not asking for more, we are just defending our rights," he told reporters after a dinner event last night.

On a related matter, the Sungai Besar Umno division chief said the red-shirts are mulling joining the Himpunan 60 Ribu (H60K) rally organised by PAS in Kelantan on Oct 17.

However, he said this depends on whether the rally would unite the Malays.

"If we are confident with their manifesto of uniting the Malays as in the constitution, then we will come support them," he added.

Asked if he met with PAS regarding this issue, Jamal merely said, "I can say I have".

Jamal said he has no qualms joining any rally as long as it is for the sake of the Malays.

Previously, the Umno man courted flak when he defended the derogatory term ' Cina babi ' (Chinese pig) hurled during the red-shirts rally on Sept 16.

He defended his stand again saying he had been misquoted .
