Umno supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman remains unperturbed by MCA Youth's demands for an apology.

"They can make noise until doomsday, I don't care," Tajuddin told reporters in Putrajaya today.

He was responding to MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon, who has vowed not to stop pressing the deputy argriculture and agro-based industries minister for an apology.

"MCA asked me to apologise? What have I done wrong that I have to apologise?" Tajuddin asked.

"MCA is the one that has done a lot of wrongs," he added.

Tajuddin has come under fire for his statement that he would "slap" Chinese Malaysians if they took their grouses out of the country.

He also responded to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who said last Saturday that Tajuddin dared to issue the "slap" warning because he knows the government is behind him .

'Issue resolved'

"He (Mahathir) is a man I respect so much. He can say anything he likes. I take it in good spirit," Tajuddin said.

Mahathir has done a lot for the country, he added, so he has no issues with whatever criticism or advice Mahathir wants to offer him.

"I am open to listening (to Mahathir). I will listen, but whether I will accept I don't know," he said.

Regardless, he said, he now considers the 'slap' issue resolved.

"The subject is closed. Don't bring it up anymore," Tajuddin told reporters.
