Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali today advised Parti Amanah Negara leaders to stop their strong criticism of his administration.

"The MB has advised them to stop all (such) views which do not benefit the people; he asked them to sit down and discuss (with the state) to iron out problems," said Shuhaimi Shafie, Azmin's political secretary.

Shuhaimi, who is also Sri Muda assemblyperson, told Malaysiakini this after Amanah leaders met Azmin this morning.

The meeting was to discuss state administration matters as well as strategies to win the 14th general election.

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, its secretary-general Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir, strategic director Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, and communications director Khalid Samad, who is also Shah Alam MP, met Azmin for slightly more than an hour.

The meeting is to express their support for Azmin, said Shuhaimi.

"The MB appreciates Amanah’s full support for him and this was conveyed to Mohamad (Sabu). The meeting also discussed current state administration (matters) and strategies for the 14th general elections," said Shuhaimi.

Previously, it was reported that the meeting would take place to discuss the future of the Selangor state government and also Pakatan Harapan, following some confusion as the coalition was once called Pakatan Rakyat.

Escapism politics

Meanwhile, Amanah deputy youth chief (politics) Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin has asked Azmin to understand the reality of politics in Selangor and not adopt an ‘escapism politics’ as it would result in the people becoming suspicious of Azmin's political transparency.

"Politics require honesty in friendship and co-operation. If Azmin understands this, then he would not have said there is no Pakatan Harapan in Selangor," Shazni told Malaysiakini .

Shazni also told Azmin that the latter needs Amanah's support in tackling several outstanding issues which cannot be resolved by the previous administration.

"Azmin needs friends to assist him when facing problematic issues like the Darul Ehsan Investment Group, the three highways and the proposed increase in water tariffs.

"He needs friends who can assist and not invite public scrutiny," he said.
