Dr M irrelevant, no longer has support, says Jasa DG

Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi today described former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad as having lost support and becoming irrelevant, especially after his unsuccessful attempt to topple Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Mohd Puad, who is also Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director-general, said the support for Mahathir was seen to have declined, as not many people would attend his programmes.

"Any programmes organised in his (Dr Mahathir’s) name will only attract 100 to 200 people," he told reporters today.

Mohd Puad said he was confident that Mahathir would continue to seek the opposition's help to oust Najib, but the effort had yet to bear fruit.

"Tun M has even resorted to asking Lim Kit Siang of DAP to help him to oust Najib, but we can see now no one is willing to help him... not even Umno members would help him, let alone outsiders," he said.

Earlier, Mohd Puad attended the launch of Jasa Connectivity programme by Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman in Kuala Nerus.

Also present were state government transformation, communications and multimedia committee chairperson A Latiff Awang and Terengganu Jasa director Adli Kesah.
