PAS furious over 'DAP beer party' to celebrate if Amanah wins

SG BESAR POLLS  PAS is upset that DAP's Sekinchan state assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim had reportedly told a ceramah in Sungai Besar that DAP would celebrate with beers if Amanah did better than the Islamic party.

Taking to Facebook, the party's information chief Nasrudin Hassan highlighted the report by The Star which quoted Ng as saying: "We can celebrate with Carlsberg, Tiger and or kau (black dog or Guinness Stout)" if Amanah did better than PAS.

"Any plans for victory celebrations must be within limits. The statement from DAP's Ng to celebrate an Amanah victory over PAS with Carlsberg, Tiger and Guinness Stout as was reported by The Star can be seen as arrogant,” said Nasrudin.

Nasrudin pointed out that Ng's alleged suggestion was very inappropriate as the Amanah candidate is also a Muslim for whom the partaking of alcoholic drink is proscribed.

Whatever the case, he believed that the statement by the DAP leader showcased a level of arrogance which should not have been bandied about.

"It is like a slap to the face of Muslims with alcoholic drinks to celebrate their victory in crushing an Islamic party," he said.

Malaysiakini is attempting to confirm the remarks with Ng.

The Sungai Besar seat fell vacant after its incumbent died in a recent helicopter crash in Sarawak. The Election Commission has set June 18 as polling day for the four three-cornered tussle among PAS, BN and Amanah.
