Taxi drivers have attacked yet another ride-sharing vehicle, the second attack in a week.

The vehicle of a GrabCar driver was badly damaged after it was attacked by taxi drivers while he was trying to pick up two passengers in the wee hours of yesterday morning outside Mid Valley Megamall, according to Bernama.

Brickfields district police chief Sharul Othman Mansor said in the 3am incident, the 35-year-old driver was scolded by a taxi driver for picking up passengers from a taxi zone.

"The victim, who was picking up two passengers, claimed he was stopped by a taxi driver who demanded the two passengers get out of the vehicle.

"He was later approached by two more taxi drivers who tried to snatch away his mobile phone," he was quoted as saying.

Sharul said the taxi driver also allegedly kicked the victim's hand while other taxi drivers kicked his vehicle.

The frightened passengers quickly alighted from the vehicle and left the scene.

Shahrul said the victim's vehicle was damaged on both sides of the rear door and its bumper was also dented, while its right side mirror was broken and right signal light shattered.

However, he said, the victim, who lodged a police report, was not hurt.

Police are in the process of identifying the suspects based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.

Last Wednesday, taxi drivers also confronted a Uber driver at KL Sentral and dragged out an Iranian tourist from the back of the vehicle.
