DBKL senior officer released after 12-day remand

A Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) senior officer who was remanded for 12 days to facilitate investigations into a corruption and money-laundering case has been released.

The release order on the 'Datuk Seri', aged 54, was issued by Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahim on a RM300,000 Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail.

The man was detained at his office at DBKL at 3.07pm on Aug 15 and remanded for seven days from Aug 16 till 22.

He was further remanded for five days till today on the application of the MACC, which wanted to conduct further searches and record the statement of the contractor allegedly linked to the man, and to get the relevant documents.

Meanwhile, a businessman who was remanded for five days in connection with a RM500,000 corruption case involving a logging project in the east coast was also released today on a RM10,000 MACC bail.

The 'Datuk', aged 64, was detained to facilitate investigations under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
