Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the Home Ministry is not against anyone, including students, from holding a rally.

"We (the ministry) are not stopping them as long as they follow the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, where by the organisers have to get permission from the site owner," he said commenting on the anti-government rally in Kuala Lumpur, today.

Nur Jazlan said the failure of the organisers to get permission of the site owner for holding the rally would go against what they stood for.

"I hope these young people do not become arrogant and disrespect the law," said at the Malaysian Student Leaders Summit 2016 organised by the Malaysian Students Council of United Kingdom and Eire (UKEC) in Kuala Lumpur today.

Asked about the impact of the rally, he said their actions would not bring results as it was not the best medium to make a change.

"The people are waiting for the general election to decide and will not use street rallies to topple the government."
