I am not sure why is PAS kicking a big fuss over Inul Daratista coming to town. She is a very popular Indonesian pop artiste who has attracted lots of attention in Indonesia and overseas. She is a good singer and her VCDs are selling very well in 'pasar malam' (night market) stalls around Kuala Lumpur.

Unlike Michael Jackson's moon walk and crotch-grabbing moves, Inul came up with something original called the 'Gonchang Gerudi'. I suppose the closest translation of this term into English would be 'shake like a screwdriver'.

Personally, I do not know what PAS' objections are to her performing in Malaysia. Is it because they fear her show will encourage promiscuity among our youth or are they just attacking Inul because she is an Indonesian?

Indonesia is also a Muslim country and if I am not mistaken, former Indonesian president Megawati Sukarnoputri's husband once went on stage to dance the 'Gonchang Gerudi' with Inul.

I would suggest that instead of protesting against Inul, PAS diehards should either go buy a ticket for her concert or stay at home and watch TV.
