Barisan Nasional lawmakers have condemned the walkout by lawmakers from Pakatan Harapan during the tabling of Budget 2017 in Parliament today.

Among others, they described the act as childish, insolent and irresponsible.

Defence Minister and Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein: Irresponsible, and it has never happened in the history of the Parliament. Maybe they felt that this was an opportunity to do a gimmick to embarass us. But like the prime minister himself said, the rakyat can evaluate their actions today.

Umno information chief and Ketereh MP Annuar Musa: We are very disappointed. As elected lawmakers are given the title ‘Yang Berhormat’ and the Dewan Rakyat is called ‘Dewan Yang Mulia’ because that is where we must show a high level of integrity.

We must not only expect our voices to be heard. We must be able to hear anyone who speaks according to the Dewan's decorum. In the tradition of the budget, this is the time for the government to table, whether we agree or disagree, there will be a time to debate it.

Transport Minister and Bentong MP Liow Tiong Lai: This has been the opposition's tactics, everytime. The people will see this is an important budget for the nation, but the opposition prefers to use drama. Its just to catch attention. So when the PM said ‘sandiwara’, it really touched their nerves.

Rural and Regional Development Minister and Bera MP Ismail Sabri: Childish. Very childish. They should listen to the budget and then debate it. Why walk out? Shouting here and there. It is very embarrassing as far as we are concerned, and for the people, that is the standard of opposition we have in this country.

Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister and Tanjong Karang MP Noh Omar: Their action shows insolence. I hope the people will reject them because how can they respect the laws of the country when they can't even respect the rules of the house? And also today it looks like Tan Sri Muhyiddin became a follower of the opposition. At least Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal had his own stand.

Youth and Sports Minister and Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin: That was a little bit unfortunate. It wasn't very professional. They should have stayed until the end. This is the tabling of the budget, they should have acted more professionally and at least listened till the end of the budget.

You have to ask them. This is the budget speech, happens once a year. If you don't like what we are saying, you can debate it, but stay till the end.
