A team of police officers and men from the federal police headquarters at Bukit Aman detained DAP's Seremban MP Anthony Loke at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur just now.

Loke told Malaysiakini that according to the police, he is being investigated under the Sedition Act, for his speech made at the Pakatan Harapan Convention last Saturday, which called for the removal of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to restore the country's sovereignty.

However, he said, he is not aware which part of the speech has been found to be problematic.

Loke is currently being held at Bukit Aman for questioning. He is accompanied by lawyer and MP for Bukit Gelugor Ramkarpal Singh.

Meanwhile, former Selangor state executive councillor Ronnie Liu was also arrested in Bukit Aman.

Liu was picked up by the police just after 6pm.

Lim Lip Eng, who was with Liu at the time, said on Twitter the latter was arrested under Sections 147 and 511 of the Penal Code.

Section 147 is related to rioting, while 511 is on attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment.
