PAS Selangor commissioner ustaz Sallehen Mukhyi claims their state executive councillors are remaining in the state cabinet to prevent alleged mischief by DAP.

This is the latest explanation PAS has given for not asking its excos to leave the PKR-led state cabinet after a formal decision to cut ties with the state's ruling party.

"History has proven, the time DAP cut ties with Pakatan Rakyat, DAP's excos did not step down from their posts.

"When people questioned (DAP secretary-general) Lim Guan Eng, he answered DAP needed to stay in the state government to prevent PAS from getting up to mischief," claimed Sallehen.

"Therefore PAS needs to continue to stay in the (Selangor) government and our excos must continue to serve, so that PAS does good work and DAP doesn't get up to no good," he said in a statement today.

He was responding to Selangor Umno chairperson Noh Omar, who on Friday criticised Selangor PAS as being dishonourable and opportunistic for remaining in the Selangor government despite PAS having severed political ties with PKR.

While he did not elaborate, the PAS leader was likely referring to the 2014 Selangor menteri besar crisis that saw then Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim sacking the six PKR and DAP Selangor executive councillors, following his sacking from PKR.

The six however continued to stay in office saying their dismissals were not valid.

The long-drawn imbroglio saw Khalid continuing what had been a Pakatan Rakyat state government as an Independent, accompanied by four PAS excos including Sallehen.

The other three were Iskandar Abdul Samad, Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Halimah Ali.

The crisis, triggered when PKR wanted its president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace Khalid, was eventually resolved with a compromise by way of appointing party deputy Azmin Ali to the post.

'No conspiracy'

Sallehen, turning his attention to Noh, claimed the latter was envious that PAS was still in the state administration, noting how the latter had allegedly "failed to break up the Selangor government by enticing PAS to work with Umno".

He repeated his colleagues were remaining as excos to honour the mandate of the voters in the last general election.

Sallehen also claimed it was PAS that had prevented chaos in the now defunct Pakatan Rakyat government during the 2014 crisis.

"Noh Omar needs to learn history. PAS was the one in the state government that has never conspired and created controversy to topple the menteri besar.

"At a time when other parties were trying to remove Khalid, PAS never conspired with them.

"It was not because of self-interest but for the sake of the wellbeing of the people," claimed Sallehen.
