Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein believes that the latest US Department of Justice (DOJ) filing will divert attention from a bigger agenda.

"Let them do what they want to do. It is nothing new as they have done this before, (and) we have our own answers.

"But we see that such things will divert from our bigger agenda. Let them do, we cannot stop them," Hishammuddin said in a press conference after an event at the Defence Ministry in Kuala Lumpur.

This was in response to a question from a reporter about the DOJ's latest filing today.

It was reported earlier today that the third civil lawsuit filed by the DOJ has more details and information about their allegations of the misappropriation of 1MDB's funds.

In the fresh lawsuit, the DOJ claimed that controversial businessman Jho Low had spent US$9.9 million to purchase jewellery for his mother and Australian model Miranda Kerr.

It also said that at least US$27.3 million was used to buy a 22-carat pink diamond pendant and necklace for "MO1's wife".

DOJ also claimed that Low's luxury yacht, 'The Equanimity', was bought with 1MDB funds.

It also believes Low bought more than US$1 billion in properties using funds stolen from 1MDB.
