It cost RM24.17 million. That's how much it took to build Sri Perdana, the prime minister's official residence in Putrajaya, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz revealed in Parliament today.

In a written reply to Teresa Kok (DAP-Seputeh), Nazri (BN-Padang Rengas) said, "[...] the original cost of constructing the official residence of the prime minister, with regards specially to the private residential block where he and the family resides amounts to RM24.17 million."

He added that while maintenance costs for the whole complex came up to RM2.9 million a year, an additional RM15.81 million was spent this year on renovations.

"To answer Yang Berhormat 's question regarding the renovation costs this year, it amounted to RM15.81 million," he said, adding the renovation works involved repair and upgrading of the air-conditioning system, upgrading of electrical wiring system, landscape and interior renovation works including consultation fees.

The Seri Perdana complex , located in Precinct 10, Putrajaya, has been the official residence of the prime minister since 2000 and comprises of three blocks for a main reception area, banquet facilities block and the residential area.

Kok also inquired as to the construction, renovation and maintenance costs of the deputy prime minister's official residence in Precinct 16, Putrajaya.

"The original cost of constructing the official residence of the deputy prime minister with regards specially to the private residential block where he and his family resides amounted to RM13.51 million," replied Nazri, adding that maintenance costs for this complex amounted to RM1.46 million a year.

He said renovation costs for the deputy prime minister's official residence for this year had not been finalised as the works were still at a planning stage.
