The court proceeding for Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) veteran Chin Peng's homecoming application has been fixed on Nov 6 at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

However, one of Chin Peng's lawyers Darshan Singh Khaira said he would apply for the date to be brought forward.

On April 29 this year, Chin Peng issued a statement through Darshan Singh in Penang setting May 28 as the deadline for the Government of Malaysia to respond to his application to return to his country in fulfilment of the letters and spirit of the Peace Accord signed between the Government of Malaysia and Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) on December 2, 1989 in Haadyai, Thailand.

Amicable solution

He said that if it fails to do so, he would take his case to the International Court of Justice and European Court of Justice.

Chin Peng, 82, also accused the government of attempting "to drag its feet" to "delay the matter" and "put obstacle" in his way as he is now 81 years old.

He reiterated his intention to resolve the issue "peacefully and amicably" expecting "the Malaysian Government to keep its word and abide by the peace agreements".

Chin Peng first filed his case in the Penang High Court on March 4 last year.

The defendants named by Chin Peng and the Communist Party of Malaya are the Government of Malaysia, its Home Minister, Inspector-General of Police and Chief of Defence Forces.
