PKR vice-president R Sivarasa has urged the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) to look into the phone records of two individuals probed in the alleged judicial fixing scandal.

Sivarasa said this in his statement to the ACA today which is based on a report he lodged on an eight-minute video which allegedly depicted senior lawyer VK Lingam and current Chief Justice Abdul Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim brokering judicial appointments.

Contacted later, Sivarasa said the ACA officers who interviewed him for two hours today wanted to obtain the full 15-minute video of the conversation.

"I had the feeling that they were trying to identify the source of the video. I told them that they didn't have to since they had technicians to verify that the video was not fabricated,

"Furthermore, I told them that they merely need to match the phone records (of Lingam and Abdul Fairuz) to know if the event in the video took place," he said.

According to Sivarasa, he made it clear to the ACA that the source of the video was not ready to be revealed.

Additionally, he said the ACA was interested in knowing how PKR evaluated the content of the video.

Hopes on ACA?

Sivarasa said the ACA would be interviewing party worker Sim Tze Tzin soon because of the latter's role in unveiling the video to the public.

Asked if PKR was satisfied with ACA investigations so far, Sivarasa offered the following response:

"Frankly PKR does not have high expectation on what ACA would do (about the complaint). They have been entrusted to investigate the matter, we hope they do their part. Given their track record, we're not holding our breath,"

Sivarasa is believed to be the first witness being called by the ACA regarding the investigations into the video tape..

Yesterday, Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail announced that he had directed the ACA to record a statement from Lingam to assist investigations.

It is not known if Ahmad Fairuz would be subjected to the probe.

Concurrently, the government has established a three-member panel of two retired judges and a prominent social activist to investigate the authenticity of the video.
