The Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) has repeated its demand to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, to hand over the full version of the 'Lingam tape' by Thursday or risk going to jail.

Director-general Ahmad Said Hamdan told a press conference in Putrajaya today that the agency could not rely on a copy of the recording to determine the authenticity of the clip which PKR revealed on Sept 19.

"Anwar has said that the clip is with the source and would be handed to him... so it is up to him to give it to us. We wait until Thursday. We need the original clip, otherwise we cannot take action," Bernama quoted him as saying.

Anwar could be charged under Section 22 of the ACA Act and faces up to two years' jail and a fine of up to RM10,000 if convicted.

Yesterday, ACA officials met him for the second time since Oct 5 to record a statement and try and obtain the original tape from him.

He and two other party officials have refused to hand over any information without an assurance of protection and legal immunity for the sources involved.

"What they (PKR) gave us earlier is not the full version of the tape. Out of 14 minutes (recorded), they gave us an eight-minute version.

"We believe it has been tampered with. We cannot rely on copies. We have to look into the original clip," Ahmad said.

"Even the courts need the original. Otherwise we cannot determine its authenticity... we cannot act on copies... you can manufacture a lot of tapes nowadays... everyone can make video clips these days.

"We have to look into the full version of it to be fair to all. We don't know what happened in the full version."

Anwar has assured the ACA that he will hand over a copy of the eight-minute version of the video clip, saying the original recording is being held by the source who gave him the copy.

Ahmad said more than 10 people mentioned in the shortened version had been questioned to date.

The ACA began its probe after PKR vice-president R Sivarasa lodged a report with the agency on Sept 20. He and party worker Sim Tze Tzin have been questioned.
