Opposition party PKR is eyeing two parliamentary and 11 state seats in Negeri Sembilan in the coming general election, said the party’s state chief Kamarul Baharin Abbas.

kamarul baharin abbas According to Bernama report, Kamarul was reported as saying that the two parliamentary seats were Kuala Pilah and Telok Kemang.

He also listed Pertang, Palong, Jeram Padang, Sikamat, Ampangan, Juasseh, Pilah, Rantau, Chuah, Linggi and Port Dickson as the state seats which the party wanted to contest.

He however said that the final decision on the seat allocations would have to be decided by the top PKR leadership.

He also said that the state party committee was recommending about 50 percent of new faces as candidates. A full list has been sent to the PKR headquarters in Kuala Lumpur last week.

In the last general election in 2004, PKR lost in all the seats it contested, namely the Kuala Pilah and Telok Kemang parliamentary seats and 11 state seats - Pertang, Palong, Jeram Padang, Sikamat, Ampangan, Juasseh, Pilah, Senawang, Rantau, Chuah and Linggi.

Opposing Khairy

badrul hisham Meanwhile in a related matter, PKR’s supreme council member Badrul Hisham Shaharin was reported by Bernama as saying that he was prepared to take on Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin in any seat in the upcoming general election.

"My intention has received positive response verbally from the PKR leadership," he said.

Last Wednesday, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan announced that Khairy was among five names nominated by the Rembau Umno division to contest in the Rembau parliamentary seat.

Mohamad said the decision was made based on Khairy's position as the Umno Youth No. 2 and Rembau Umno Youth chief.

In the 2004 general election, Badrul Hisham lost to Mohamad in the Rantau state seat.
