YTL Communications, through Yes, has made history once again by becoming the first telco in Malaysia to launch 5G Advanced, with nationwide coverage expected by the end of 2025.

With 5G Advanced, the Yes 5G network not only provides improved performance but also deeper coverage and new features that unlock new possibilities.

What 5G Advanced Brings
Say goodbye to interruptions—Malaysians can now move seamlessly through work, play, and everything in between with 5G Advanced. At the Yes Presents: The Future First Tech-Talk, Yes unveiled how its 5G Advanced network combines spectrum from 700MHz and 3500MHz to deliver stronger indoor penetration and wider outdoor coverage.

Users can expect more consistent 5G connections for both data and voice via Voice over New Radio (VoNR). With ultra-low latency, high throughput, and intelligent traffic management, the network supports seamless streaming, gaming, and mission-critical industrial applications.

The VIP Showcase Tour stops by the Latency & Stability booth, where Yes demonstrates how 5G Standalone (5G SA) delivers ultra-low latency for smoother, more responsive cloud gaming compared to 5G NSA! Enjoy Cloud Gaming with zero downloads, instant play, and a truly lag-free gaming experience.

Designed for the next era of AI and digital innovation, Yes 5G Advanced introduces self-optimising capabilities and real-time network slicing. These features create a dynamic “VIP priority lane” that guarantees quality-of-service prioritisation anywhere on the Yes national 5G network, paving the way for smart automation, edge computing, and next-gen AI experiences.

Wing K Lee, Chief Executive Officer of YTL Communications, revealed that Yes 5G has already activated 5G Standalone (5G SA) nationwide in Q3 2025.

Yes 5G is the world’s 9th 5G Advanced Network

Wing K. Lee, Chief Executive Officer of YTL Communications, delivers the keynote address, unveiling Yes 5G Advanced.

Globally, there are 354 5G networks, with 80% still operating on 5G NSA (Non-Standalone). Only 20% of these networks have implemented 5G SA, and Yes 5G is one of them.

With this launch, Yes 5G became the ninth telco in the world to provide a commercially available 5G Advanced network for customers.

“Malaysians can enjoy broader and deeper 5G coverage nationwide and a high-performance wireless network the country has not seen before. It’s the foundation for an uncapped, inclusive, and AI-ready society that Malaysians deserve,” said Wing K Lee, Chief Executive Officer of YTL Communications.

Datuk Azman Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), said, “DNB congratulates YTL Communications on this important milestone. With Yes 5G Advanced network slicing now activated nationwide and the upgrade to 5G Advanced already underway in the Klang Valley, we look forward to working closely with YTL Communications to accelerate the nationwide rollout of these advanced, AI-powered capabilities by year-end.”
