Kuala Lumpur, 14 May 2026 - Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (“DSH2”), part of KPJ Healthcare Berhad’s (“KPJ Healthcare”) network of hospitals, strengthened its women’s healthcare capabilities through a strategic collaboration with Delta Medisains (M) Sdn Bhd (“Delta Medisains”) to advance Southeast Asia’s first Supine High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (“HIFU”) programme for non-invasive fibroid treatment.
The collaboration supports DSH2’s continued focus on strengthening specialised women’s healthcare services through targeted innovation, clinical capability development and multidisciplinary care, in line with the broader direction of the KPJ Health System (“KPJHS”).

DSH2 is the first hospital in Southeast Asia to introduce Supine High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (“HIFU”) technology for the treatment of uterine fibroids. The supine approach allows treatment to be delivered in a more natural face-up position while maintaining the precision required for effective fibroid treatment.
Early clinical experience at DSH2 has shown encouraging outcomes for selected HIFU cases, including shorter hospital stays and faster recovery compared to more conventional surgical approaches.
The collaboration between DSH2 and Delta Medisains marks the beginning of a strategic five-year effort to support the long-term development and adoption of Supine HIFU technology in Malaysia.

The collaboration will also support longer-term efforts in medical education, technical expertise development and clinical support, contributing to the continued advancement of minimally invasive women’s healthcare services in the region.
Speaking at the event, Chin Keat Chyuan, President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare said the advancement of healthcare today must go beyond introducing new technologies alone. He said, “The Supine HIFU programme at DSH2 reflects how targeted innovation can strengthen women’s healthcare services while improving both clinical outcomes and the overall patient experience.”

He also added, “Healthcare expectations today continue to evolve beyond treatment effectiveness alone. Patients are increasingly looking for approaches that support faster recovery, less disruption to daily life and care that is better aligned with their individual needs and circumstances. This is the direction we continue to strengthen through the KPJHS. More importantly, innovation must always serve a practical clinical purpose. It should translate into meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery, patient outcomes and the overall quality of care.”
The programme is led by Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Dr Liew Yen Eit and Dr Haliza Kamarudin, supported by multidisciplinary teams at DSH2 specialising in women’s healthcare services.

The event was attended by healthcare partners, insurance representatives, health tourism agencies and invited guests from Malaysia and across the region, highlighting growing regional interest in Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem and DSH2’s role in women’s healthcare services.
This direction is further reflected in DSH2’s recent recognition as Specialty Hospital of the Year (Women’s) – Malaysia at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026.
