In recent years, there has been a growing consensus that the Whistleblowing Protection Act requires certain amendments to better protect those who come forward to disclose misconduct. The debate will provide a platform for young people to voice their opinions on this important issue and engage in meaningful dialogue with policymakers. It is an opportunity for youth debaters to showcase their skills and knowledge on critical issues affecting their lives. 

This 4th session of GenZ @ Podium will explore the proposed amendments to the Whistleblowing Protection Act and the reasons behind them. This event is exclusively designed for individuals in the age range of 18 to 25, with its primary goal being to create a platform where well-informed discussions can take place and where the voices of the next generation are empowered. 

This programme will be organise within the metaverse platform, "GenZ @ the Podium”, 20 youths will be featured across Malaysia. These youths will be joined by YB William Leong, Member of Parliament Selayang as commentary guest speaker. Together they will thoroughly analyse the proposed amendments to create a stronger legal framework that empowers and safeguards those who dare to expose misconduct, ultimately benefiting society as a whole about the topic to tackle this urgent issue. 

The debate event will commence with the youth presenting their statements on opinions on whether amending the Whistleblowing Protection Act to safeguard and provide assistance to individuals who disclose information publicly via media platforms would serve to mitigate the risk of forfeiture of their protection.

Join the debate on this vital issue, where young voices will propose amendments aimed to extend the protection of whistleblowers to freely engage with the media.
