Hindraf should worry not. People are smart enough to see through a fake name.

Think of MCA, which means "Malaysian Chinese Association." Can they be more misleadingly inclusive? It's not even called a "party."

If translated unabbreviated into Chinese, the name is virtually indistinguishable from the generic term for "Chinese groups." The term was so confusing that, when Chinese NGOs initially translated the 1999 "suqiu" (a list of reformist political petition opposed by the BN, and disgracefully abandoned by MCA) from Chinese to English, the title had to be altered to avoid the natural tendency to translate it as a set of petition from many "Malaysian Chinese Associations."

As long as the MMSP (Malaysian Makkal Sakti Party) pursues a racial agenda submissive to the BN, behaving like MIC or MCA, it will soon become clearly distinguished from Hindraf. The Indian community is so diverse, just as the Chinese community is (just as the Malay community should be).

Whenever MMSP members chant "Makkal Sakti" in their party functions, they will see self-contradiction. It will remind them to leave MMSP and rejoin Hindraf. The same fate has befallen MCA.

The bigger issue is that Hindraf itself should remember to be inclusive culturally, to promote good governance, natural rights and dignity of human beings. Establish think tanks and institutions, avoid partisanship.
