I refer to the Malaysiakini report No brainwashing in BTN courses, says Muhyiddin .

I never knew there is a government body called Biro Tata Negara (BTN) until Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim a few days ago stopped Selangor government staff from attending the racist indoctrination by BTN.

Like many Malaysians, I am very curious about BTN as all my life, none of my friends, relatives, colleagues and people I knew ever told me about BTN.

I like to know the structure of BTN, staff composition and line of command, the ministry under which BTN is established and the person-in-charge for preparing the training material and contents.

As far as the participants are concerned, which age group does BTN target for indoctrination. For example, are they secondary school leavers, college students or young graduates? Surely BTN isn’t interested in people aged 40 and above as these individuals already have their own stance.

Does BTN provide training to participants from the private sector? If yes, how has BTN managed to attract them despite it’s racist indoctrination? Regardless of participants’ background, is it free of charge for all of them or are the BTN courses sponsored by taxpayers’ money?

Immediately after Khalid’s ‘stop order’, eputy Prime Minister Muhiyiddin Yasin said there was no such thing as brainwashing by BTN. Without doubt, he was briefed by BTN senior personnel prior to making the statement as he has no time to visit BTN camps to find out the truth within the short span of time since the stop order.

In fairness to the BN government, nation-building was the main objective when BTN was first set up ( when?) and that main objective remains today. Thanks to the BN leaders then for mooting the idea.

However, sad to say it is being misused by some people. Somewhere along the line of its implementation, I believe that some racist trainers/facilitators were dispatched to BTN and started the racist indoctrination of all participants. Are they doing this on their own without the knowledge of the ministry concerned?

Or under direction from certain senior racist officers or BN leaders? What about monitoring and reporting? Is there any monitoring body that checks the performance of BTN trainers and most important of all the training material and content?

This is the poison that goes into the minds of participants. As we analyse further, the picture starts emerging on the possible parties involved –

1. BN leadership,

2. the ministry,

3. BTN trainers/facilitators,

4. Monitoring body and

5. the body that prepares the training material and content.

By gathering more info on all of the above, we should then be able to nip the problem in the bud and catch the culprits!

I hope the media will carry detailed reports on the operations of BTN so that the public will know what has been going on.
