I refer to the accident involving tourist returning from the Cameron Highlands. We all know that this is not the first accident caused by illegal/unauthorised changes made to the busses in this country. So, what is the point of setting up another body to probe into this tragic accident? Past investigations by high-powered bodies have not reduced or prevented such accidents. This being so, it is all a waste of time and public funds.

What needs to be done is simple and straightforward. Haul up the bus owners and charge them with causing the deaths, due to their illegal modifications. Charge/suspend those involved in inspecting and licensing such vehicles.

What is the difficulty in doing so? The evidence is all there, in the innocent killed and a single-decker bus being converted and carrying more than the authorised number of passengers.

Let us stop wasting time over whether the driver was reckless and over the road conditions. Concentrate on what we know. If with all this hard evidence a conviction still cannot be secured, something is seriously amiss.
