The Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam Selangor (Cassa) today called on the Selangor state government to immediately stop all political and other deliberations that will see the present deadlock over the appointment of the State Secretary continue.

The continued infighting and rejection of the PSC decision is politically, economically, socially and financially harmful to the state.

The statements and political rhetoric is confusing the public and ferments disquiet and hatred all around.

This is unbecoming!

The fact is Mohd Khusrin Munawi's appointment as Selangor State Secretary by the Public Service Commission is valid in law.

He is also scheduled to take his oath of loyalty to the state before Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Thursday as Selangor's top civil servant in a ceremony.

Cassa maintains that a decision has been made and it is pertinent that the present Selangor government respects the appointment and stops all political rhetoric and statements that are causing confusion, alarm, hurt, anxiety, deep divisions and hatred among the people.

Political statements made calling for an emergency state assembly meeting to amend the state constitution are non-starters and it is totally foolish to indulge in one in view of the power equations in the state!

It is true that Pakatan did win 36 seats in the 2008 general election but the reality is it now has only 35 members, short of three seats for a two-thirds majority so to flag this proposal is absolutely stupid knowing the facts!

Any attempts to stay away or boycott the oath of loyalty ceremony by Selangor Mentri Besar and his executive councilors would be irresponsible and disloyal to the Sultan!

Cassa upholds that the solution is simple if in deed one is interested to protect the rights, interests and needs of the state of Selangor rather than flagging the inflated egos of a group of overrated two-faced politicians - put the matter to rest, stop the verbal and political sparring, stop the inaccurate, misleading and treacherous statements over the appointment of new state secretary Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi who is an absolute dedicated, honest and decent man.

It is time that the State Government allowed him without any further delay to take office and fulfill his responsibility as the new Selangor State Secretary!
