Let Pak Lah find the courage to pardon Anwar
Now that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is retiring, let us pray that premier-in-waiting Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will have the courage to pardon Anwar Ibrahim, something which is long overdue, and to bring back credibility to our court system.
Malaysia is no longer a Third World country and if we want to grow further we have to bring back qualified judges and the separation of powers between the state and judiciary.
The independence of the judiciary is a very important part of our history. Ever since the firing of the supreme court judges, it has been going downhill.
Dr Mahathir has done a lot of good for our nation. I hope in his retirement he would regret what he had done to our justice system. As for Abdullah, he now has the chance to undo the damage.
