I had the misfortune of watching Gerakan party president Lim Keng Yaik on TV speaking about all he has done for the Indians. He said that he has given a senatorship to an Indian and what more do they want. He also explained that he cannot retire.

Firstly, he said that he cannot retire as he is the president and therefore the party needs him. This is no logical explanation as to why he should cling on to being a cabinet minister. Look, he and many others feel that it is their birthright to continue as cabinet minister till they drop dead. Frankly, they cannot contribute anything more for the country. Every single one of the old folk cabinet ministers have run out of steam, vitality and intellect. They do not reflect any more brightness, charisma, nor intellect. They look like some old worn-out goats.

Keng Yaik cannot even speak straight. He has no more fresh ideas left in his mind. Do Malaysians really expect to gain anything from an old hag like him? He belongs to a bygone era altogether. I hope our PM will take the initiative to avoid giving any more cabinet postings to those who have been around for too long. Forget about the past practice of mandatory cabinet postings to the party presidents. Any capable person can be selected.

Keng Yaik does not deserve to lead a multi-racial party. Every Chinese Gerakan party member thinks and behaves as if he/she is an MCA member. If they were really a multi-racial party then they would have by now a number of Eurasians, Orang Asli, Pakistanis, Babas, Thais, Chindians, large number of Indians and Sri Lankans all of whom are Malaysians.

I had the misfortune of attending a few of their party meetings. They conduct their meetings in Chinese after which they adjourn to Chinese coffee shops making us non-Chinese feel like aliens. There is absolutely nothing Malaysian about the party except that they keep misusing the sacred term 'multiracial' all the time.

As far as shouting out that Indians should be grateful that they have received a senatorship through the Gerakan party, this sums up everything in total finality. Look! Keng Yaik is no saviour for Indians. He is enjoying his ministership all for his own personal glory and ego. What has he really done that the country can be proud of?

If he is truly the head of a multi-racial party then can he point out just one single instance wherein he has taken up an issue that concerns the welfare of just one Indian in Malaysia? Keng Yaik should stand up on stage and answer this before the public. I truly salute a fellow Malaysian Chinese like Michael Chong who has all his life been fighting for the welfare of all Malaysians.
