I refer to the letter by Volvo on the subject of equality in London, where presumably he/she has lived. I, too, have lived many years abroad, mainly in the UK, and I cannot fully agree with Volvo.

The problem with us Asians is that sometimes, in our quest to gain acceptance, we forget that we are Asians and that we will never be accepted as white. Volvo sang praises about how Asians are treated in London, and to him/her, there seems to be nothing that we cannot do there.

Whilst I can agree that there are no laws to stop anyone from doing the things that Volvo mentioned, in real life, it is not so. I have traveled extensively in Asia and Europe, and I still find Malaysia far ahead in terms of recognising immigrant populations.

We maintain Chinese names; we have Chinese ministers and chief ministers, we can buy properties (though not at a discount) we have temples all over. New Year's Day is a holiday as is Wesak and Christmas.

We have Chinese and Tamil schools, political parties, and Chinese hospitals and associations. Of course, the richest in this country are the Chinese as well.

Can Volvo name any other country on this planet that is equal to Malaysia in this aspect?
