Customs must respond swiftly to GST complaints

The public are encouraged to lodge their complaints to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department following reported irregularities and confusion emerged from the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) that started yesterday (April 1). Public feedback and swift response from the authorities is important to curb business operators who failed to comply with GST rules and obligations.

If the public is confused about GST, they can ask for clarification or make a report to the Customs Department. It is also important for the Customs Department to ensure that any complaints that arise are resolved as soon as possible and effectively to avoid the loss of public confidence.

It is imperative that the Customs Department responds immediately to any complaints, and publish details about the complaint, follow-ups and actions to facilitate better understanding of the people on GST.
