According to our Department of Environment, any Air Pollutant Index registering higher than 300 is considered hazardous.

That is why I'm baffled by the need to go as high as 500 before we take serious action. As opposed to the hem-hawed, milky suggestion that citizens wear masks and try not to go outside.

It would seem to me that hazardous air - above 300 - should warrant the kind of action imposed on Kuala Selangor and Port Klang.

And anything reaching 500 should warrant government-assisted evacuation.
