It is indeed a very opportunistic sophistry for an ex-PM who had denied so many other Malaysians their rights to free speech for 23 years, from 1981 to 2003, and now claims rather unashamedly - he should be given the rights he denied to others.

Instead of claiming the rights to free speech, Mahathir should instead be grateful to those hundreds of ex-ISA detainees who have not made him a Pinochet or taken him to any international or national court for prosecution or accountability on gross and systematic violation of human rights , including tortures .
