LETTER | Oh Malaysia!
As you proudly celebrate the world's Labour Day,
Those with a conscience wonder

When will we come around full circle
And accord respect, dignity and honour
To the millions who slog -
All in the name of cheap labour here.

We claim that Malaysians don't want to do the “D jobs”;
We claim that foreign migrant workers are competitively paid.
And we record profits that would make humans turn green.

But millions of foreign migrant workers are abused here in Malaysia,
A land that claims fair and good governance.

They come here sold on promises of milk and honey.
They get abused and we scream "isolated cases".
Unable to take the punishing
The sordid poverty hardly living but slogging
They flee
And end up deemed “illegal runaways”.

Then we proclaim some kind of amnesty,
Only to milk them of more money.

Of a year's income,
Two to four months of annual income

They sacrifice to agents and government

And we say we are a fast developing nation.

What a shame
These our sins against the human race.
