LETTER | With the arrest of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak of Malaysia, an exodus of chieftains from his party United Malaya National Organisation (Umno) has already begun.

The last minute (or what is perceived as too late) exit of the staunch supporters of Najib from Umno has propelled Umno to a “critical mass cum haemorrhage” state.

Now, the BN component party leaders like the renegade MyPPP clique or the race-based political parties like the fading MCA and drowning MIC will probably want to disappear from the radar of public opinion too.

But all this a little too late. Accountability for their sins of omission will catch up once the sins of commission are punished for.

There is a bitter lesson here for everyone in and outside Malaysia – corruption, be it by wilful indulgence or even by being a mere parasitic beneficiary, has a price to be paid.

There are far too many lessons in the pages of human misdeeds that tell you in plain truth that you will pay the price for stealing from humanity at the expense of societal progress.

Even the 'Great Train Robber' did not escape after all the years off the radar of public scrutiny.

Thanks to the new government, the rule of law is now kicking and much alive in New Malaysia.

The drama is just unfolding. And let politicians in and outside Pakatan Harapan be reminded again and again that there is no place under the sun and the moon on Earth for greed, deception and certainly for betraying humanity.
