What had been pointed out by Yusri Nuqman in his letter entitled NST vs Malaysiakini was very much a platitude as that has always been the way of the BN throughout its existence. There was supposed to be a paradigm and value shift after the embracement of 'Islam Hadhari" by Umno. It is, however, becoming more evident that this, too, is turning out to be one of those political fads meant only for garnering more supporters among the unsuspecting public.

It is certainly not a very marketable buzz word among the professionals unless they have their own vested interest in subscribing to it.

Perhaps it is too much to expect absolute justice and equality from politicians. Most of us will always be made more equal than others all the time. In the context of Umno practices, the 'wayang kulit' justice will always prevail especially under difficult circumstances. It is only a question of degree as to when and under whose leadership the performance is being played.

'Your child will always be spanked harder than mine for the same mischief'. 'My man and my cronies must always be given the priority for, after all, I make the law and run the country' continue to be the maxims of the day.

We must however thank Allah that at least the courts are now being given more space to administer justice for cases that are brought before them. It is for this reason that all enlightened Malaysians must think in terms of people, principles and nationhood first and leave divisive politics last. Read but not necessarily digest all news, and this must include malaysiakini .
