I cannot agree with all the 17 points of Suqiu, especially the point that calls for abolition of special privileges. (Editor's note: Suqiu's subpoint - take steps to abolish in all aspects, the 'Bumiputra/non-Bumiputra' distinction - under the point of promoting national unity, has often been misread and misquoted as the abolishment of special privileges.)

However, I still support Suqiu wholeheartedly for the other points which are national and universal. I also think Dr Mahathir Mohamad is very un-Malay to badmouth Suqiu as 'communists'.

Many Chinese too do not agree with the setting up of an Islamic State but they voted for PAS, and BA which comprises PAS. They see other good points of PAS: like the respect it shows to other religions and cultures, and how it gives funding to Chinese and Tamil schools in Kelantan and Terengganu.

Just as the Chinese know it is impossible to set up an Islamic State in Malaysia, Malays/Muslims too do not see any danger of their special privileges being abolished. It is a reality, a historical reality. So, let us respect each other's differences, and synergise the similarities to build a better Malaysia under BA.
