I agree with MGG Pillai's main thesis [#1] Mahathir deserves immunity[/#] (April 2) and I also agree with Born In The Eighties (BITE) who wrote [#2] We reap what we sow [/#] (April 4). But, only to a certain extent.

Perhaps, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's deeds are indeed an extension of our doings. But then again, perhaps not. Why? Because what you do as BITE puts it rightly, is what you believed to be correct, i.e. Mahathir was doing what he believed was right for his nation and we can't blame him for that.

Now, if, in a way, Dr M is just an extension of our actions and we could have stopped him then, but, alas, we didn't, that is precisely what we are trying to do now - try to repair things as well as we can. We are simply telling him, "Hey, man... please leave. You have done enough, but the good is slowly being overshadowed by the bad. Just let someone take over now." Wasn't he the one telling people that one must not overstay one's welcome?

The trouble is, he arrogantly believes that he is still correct and he has refused to leave office.

Now, which is it: Are we - as BITE had queried - "crucifying Dr M for his actions" or is he still "just an extension of our actions"?

I think neither, for I am merely exercising my rights as a citizen of Malaysia, as I always do once in every five years.

Sometimes, we are not always lucky - what we sow do not always become what we want to reap. So we have to start sowing again. And when we do, we need a new breed of seeds.

By the way, it's not my fault anymore. I did not vote for his party in the last general elections and I would still not unless the whole machinery is changed!
