I would like to respond to Belinda Evans' letter [#1] Anwar's ailment aired, but to no avail [/#], (April 4). She wrote to commend Dr Musa Mohd Nordin, president of the Islamic Medical Association, for his open letter to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and subsequently went on to make the statement that it was "not doing any good for the country and Anwar".

Exposure of any injustice that occurs in the country will open up the eyes of the people and make all of us realise that truth is being buried in the media. A person who is suffering from physical and emotional pain is stopped from obtaining proper medical care. Life just does not go on because the right and proper things are not made available - in this case, treatment options for Anwar.

More and more, day by day we now realise the inadequacies in the society and environment. For us to progress towards a better society for us and our children, we need to be sensitive to these issues and injustices and support campaigns against them in whatever way we can.

It is not enough just to commend the writer (Dr Musa) in bringing up the whole issue and just say "I sympathise with Anwar but it wouldn't do Anwar and the country any good. Life has to go on".
