Houses near the Bandar Tasek Selatan ERL (Express Railway Link) construction site yesterday afternoon were flooded with rainwater due to bad drainage around the area.

Water runoff from Cheras used to flow through the existing drains construct by JPS towards Sg Kuyoh.

But the drain has been blocked in order to build the ERL line, and a temporary culvert was built, but it is too small and cannot handle the heavy rainfall runoff from Cheras. The village nearby, Kampung Malaysia Baru, is the unlucky one to be badly hit by the floods.

This is the second time the floods have occurred in this area. The first happened on the evening of Hari Raya Aidilfitri in December last year.

Can the authorities concerned please enlarge the existing culverts to ensure proper drainage?
