In your report entitled [#1] ISA more effective, says PM [/#], our prime minister was quoted as saying the following in relation to a police report lodged by Fauzi Abdul Rahman against Information Minister and Umno secretary-general Khalil Yaakob alleging that the latter had misappropriated state funds during his tenure as Pahang Mentri Besar:

"We hear stories, but when we look for proof, there is no proof. We cannot take action merely based on allegations."

That is precisely the point. We cannot, and should not, take action merely based on allegations. There must be proof before any action can be taken. The PM is absolutely correct.

How then, can we defend our continued use of the Internal Security Act?
