There is hope yet. For a better Malaysia.

Many would feel that the sentence accorded to former IGP Rahim Noor for the assault on ex-deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim is too light. I agree, but I prefer to look on the bright side.

At least the courts did not let him go scot-free like how many Malaysians suspect they would. Nobody can blame us for anticipating such a result, given the unsatisfactory judgments of the courts these days on a number of cases of public interest.

We are in dire need of restoring public confidence in the judiciary, among other institutions. The verdict on the Rahim Noor affair, although not that satisfactory, helps.
