I am sure the rakyat who voted for Pakatan Rakayat sincerely wishes for PAS to honour the promises and pacts that they made before and after the election, as it is entirely un-Islamic at all for PAS to back off from their word and sacrifice integrity in view of political expediency.

The indication from the grassroots level is crystal clear - PAS should remain faithful to Pakatan. PAS' strong grassroots efforts had been one of the greatest core factors that contributed to the recent election outcome, and PAS leaders must never ignore that fact.

The formation of Pakatan Rakyat after the election was a positive sign that PKR, DAP and PAS were willing to forgo their individual differences in order to rectify the rakyat's dissatisfaction which denied BN's 2/3 majority.

The same tone should go for PKR, too, as they have been too focused in tempting non-Malay based BN component parties to come into Pakatan and betray their BN ‘mothership’.

Too focussed that they have ignored the most important task which is to reconcile the different extreme ideological ends between PAS and DAP.

DAP, too, is guilty for being too confrontational. PAS cannot be said to have betrayed Pakatan merely by having a negotiation session with Umno during the after hours of the election since nothing was truly laid on the table for Pakatan at that moment of time.

Remember, Muslims remain the most vocal stakeholders in this country, and it is a good thing for DAP to start appreciating PAS for its effort in bringing forth the good virtues of social justice that one can find in Quran and its prophetic wisdom to all races.

It will be good too for PAS to tone down in fighting for the Islamic penal code as the majority of today's Muslims are still in the dark on how to fine-tune the short-term syariah injunctions towards achieving the long-term wisdom and true intention of Islamic law.

The key is, Pakatan components must have consensus on common principles that will forge all stakeholders in Malaysia towards a common goal.

That is a fundamental prerequisite Anwar Ibrahim - the chosen leader for Pakatan - has to fulfill before he can truly be honoured for rightfully achieving his ‘prime minister-hood’.
