Just look at the latest twists in the sodomy allegations against Anwar Ibrahim. The controversy relating to the Pusrawi Hospital report points out so clearly how the real beneficiaries of the system are all teaming up to make sure that Anwar is put away.

This also becomes by default an exercise in identifying who the real beneficiaries of this rotten system are- all those who are trying very hard to bury the truth and Anwar along with that.

Let me quote a few :

1) Pusrawi Hospital said the doctor who examined Saiful was not a specialist. ‘He is not qualified to make any conclusions on sodomy,’ he said.

My comment is - A doctor with 20 years experience at least should be able to make such determination with ease. Obviously, this is not an objective statement.

2) The hospital added that the examination was related to Saiful's complaint of having pain in the anus when passing motion. According to the leaked medical report, Saiful has apparently told the doctor he was allegedly assaulted with a piece of plastic being inserted into his anus.

My comment is this sounds like an outright lie or complete ignorance on a matter of such significance. When asked ‘You do have the original report, so is it (the copy that is circulating) the genuine report?

The answer was ‘I cannot say if it is the genuine unless someone confirms, the committee. Maybe, maybe not. It looks the same but it is not the original copy, that is with me. Looks the same but it is not the same because we have the original copy’.

My comment is - why all this hesitation in the light of such compelling evidence?

3) The health ministry stands by the findings of the medical examination conducted on Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan by doctors at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur. The media quoted ministry Director-General Dr Mohd Ismail Merican as saying this.

My comment - why the hurry to debunk the Pusrawi report? What is the need?

4) The deputy inspector-general of police Ismail Omar said police have not dilly-dallied in investigating the case since it was reported by Saiful a month ago. He said the police have been relentlessly seeking the relevant and the latest information, besides giving the case priority as it was a high-profile case.

My comment - why had the police then overlook to say something about this medical report during its month-long investigation?

5) Police will continue investigating the sodomy claims against opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, despite the leaked medical report, Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar said. He said the medical report was part of ‘a whole chain of evidences’ which police were investigating.

My comment -Why this tenacity? Compare this with the statutory declarations made against Najib Razak by PI Balasubramaniam and Raja Petra Kamaruddin.

So, you can see how all of this forms a pattern. Anwar is threatening the beneficiaries of the rotten system wholesale. They have to get him, or he’ll get them. The message is clear.

But what this does for the rest of us is that we can now see who the true beneficiaries of this systems are.
